WELCOME

TO THE REPUBLICAN PARTY OF LOS ANGELES

We celebrate the overwhelming victory of Donald Trump to the 47th president of the United States of America, let's also rejoice that Los Angeles County looks to have replaced George Gascon with Nathan Hochman, and that California chose to make crime illegal again for voting Yes on Prop 36.

As you look for results in the many races in our county here, remember that California takes almost a month to finish counting ballots.

Many of our candidates are in good positions but will need help curing (aka fixing signature errors) ballots. If would like to help these campaigns please email info@lagop.org and we will put you in touch with the closest campaign.

I hope you had a smile in your heart today—even if you sadly had to hide it from coworkers.

Where is the best place to track national election results?

Breaking news these days is often found on X, formerly known as Twitter. All networks, cable news channels and news websites will be covering the national election. Our friends at RedState will host one of many live online events, and local radio and TV like AM790 will as well.

How do I know if my mail-in ballot was received?

Whether you turned it in to a vote center, dropped it into a ballot box, or sent it via USPS, you can sign up for BallotTrax here to follow its progress. Note that it can take a few days for updates, and that weekend information isn’t turned around immediately.

How is it possible for an election to be called before my ballot was counted?

The Registrar of Voters (ROV) may call a race before all ballots are counted when the remaining uncounted ballots could not possibly change the election outcome. This usually happens when a candidate has a significant lead that mathematically cannot be overcome by the number of votes left to count.

For example, if Candidate A leads Candidate B by 10,000 votes and only 5,000 ballots remain uncounted, even if Candidate B received all of those remaining votes, they still couldn’t surpass Candidate A. In such cases, it’s statistically certain that Candidate A will win, allowing the ROV to confidently call the race, even though final vote totals might still be updated later.

I received a message that my ballot was counted before the election—why? I thought they counted the day of?

Ballots are received and counted as present, but not opened to count actual votes till election day. The life cycle of a ballot can be found here

What if the Ballot Trax tracker says my ballot was received but not counted yet because there’s a problem with it?

If you forget to sign your ballot envelope or your signature doesn't sufficiently compare to your voter registration signature on file, election officials are required by state law to contact you and give you a chance to correct, or "cure" your ballot. You will get an email from the registrar with instructions on how to proceed. OR Go to a vote center in person and you will be provided a provisional ballot, which will count if the problem with the original is not resolved and will not count if it is.

November 7–December 1: Curing of ballots happens up until two days before the election is certified.

December 2: District Attorney takes office.

December 3: Anticipated date the Secretary of State will certify the election.

December 13: California Secretary of State Last Day to certify the election.
