Braver Angels and Public Democracy Los Angeles will be co-hosting a model Civic Assembly on June 7, 1p-3p in-person in Culver City. This is an opportunity to participate in a hands-on Civic Assembly process and experience democracy in action.

The goal is to gain an understanding of how deliberative techniques practiced by diverse and engaged citizens working together can address local issues. During the three-hour program, participants will:

- Take part in a mini assembly experience focused on "what policies should guide rebuilding in fire impacted areas".
- Connect with a diverse mix of Los Angelenos and Southern Californians
- Consider how this approach could be used on the issues you care about most

CA State Representative Carl DeMaio and Reform California are leading a statewide campaign to qualify and pass the CA Voter ID Initiative in the 2026 election – and your help is needed to get the job done!

Here’s what we’ll cover during this important Town Hall:

THE PROBLEM: A record number of Californians have lost faith and confidence in how our state conducts its elections – and the reasons are well-documented! California’s fraud-prone election practices include outdated voter rolls, ballot harvesting schemes, refusal to verify citizenship status, non-existent signature reviews, etc.

THE SOLUTION: The CA Voter ID Initiative is a statewide constitutional amendment to restore election integrity by requiring 1) verification of voter ID for any ballot counted; 2) verification of citizenship for anyone registering to vote. This simple two-step process is a common-sense approach to fixing the problems in California’s elections.

UPDATE ON CAMPAIGN METRICS: To enact this law we must collect over 1 million signatures to place the CA Election Integrity with Voter ID Initiative on the ballot. This briefing will provide an update on key campaign metrics – including the goal of recruiting at least 10,000 volunteers statewide to commit to collecting enough signatures and raising $3 million to get the job done. A coalition has committed matching funds to the effort if we hit our targets!

HOW YOU CAN HELP: We will discuss how you can be part of this historic and game-changing fight to save our state! Specifically we’ll cover what we need from volunteers and supporters in each region – and provide updates on upcoming events in your area.
