FEDERAL ELECTIONS

UNITED STATES PRESIDENT

UNITED STATES SENATE

California State is served by 2 State Senators. Senators serve a term of 6 years. In 2024, 1 Senate seat will be up for election

UNITED STATES CONGRESS

Los Angeles County contains 17 Congressional Districts. Congressional Representatives serve a term of 2 years. in 2024 all 17 congressional seats will be up for election.

STATE ELECTIONS

California is governed by two houses of government: the State Senate and the State Assembly.

CALIFORNIA STATE SENATE

STATE SENATE - Los Angeles is served by 13 State Senators. Each district includes around 1 million citizens. State Senators serve for 4 years. We have four Republicans running for State Senate in 2024.

CALIFORNIA STATE ASSEMBLY

Los Angeles County contains 24 State Assembly Districts. State Assembly representatives serve for 2 years. All 24 Assembly seats are up for election in 2024.

STATEWIDE PROPOSITIONS

  • Proposition 2: Oppose - Proposition 2 is not only fiscally irresponsible, it contains a “Project Labor Agreement” requirement—which means tax dollars will go to the political fund of the union. This bond is a way to cover CA's existing budget deficit with a credit card.

  • Proposition 3: Neutral - ACA 5 repeals a provision of the California Constitution in conflict with federal law and adds a provision providing that marriage is a fundamental right for all Californians.

  • Proposition 4: Oppose - California already dedicates billions of dollars, from multiple sources to climate programs. Bonds of this nature should be prioritized for other issues facing the state and include strict transparency and accountability measures to ensure proper use.

  • Proposition 5: Oppose - ACA 1 is a direct attack on our Prop. 13 taxpayer protections. It dismantles taxpayer safeguards that have been in place for more than 40 years and makes it easier to raise local bonds for virtually any purpose.

  • Proposition 6: Oppose - Prohibits the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation from disciplining any incarcerated person for refusing a work assignment.

  • Proposition 32: Oppose - Increases the state minimum wage to $18 per hour by 2026. Increases in minimum wage have adverse impacts on the cost of living and disproportionately affect small businesses — causing jobs to be destroyed and prices to rise.

  • Proposition 33: Oppose - Prop 33 would allow city councils to impose rent control on privately owned single-family homes and could even lead to unelected bureaucrats charging homeowners a fee for taking their homes off the rental market. According to the state’s Independent Legislative Analysis, Prop 33 will lead to a loss of revenue for local governments across the state, and could result in higher local property taxes — making housing more expensive.

  • Proposition 34: Support - Institutes accountability measures to ensure the appropriate use of taxpayer dollars. Forces abusers of the drug discount program to adhere to the program’s mission to provide healthcare to low-income patients and restricts the funds from being used for political purposes.

  • Proposition 35: Oppose - Make permanent a tax on managed health care insurance plans. This initiative is sponsored by California’s healthcare industry to raise more money for Medi-Cal and block lawmakers from using the cash to avoid cuts to other programs. The measure would hold Newsom to a promise to permanently secure that tax money for health care for low-income patients. Prop 35 will plunge us further into debt and inevitably result in higher taxes.

  • Proposition 36: Support - California has an epidemic of drug use, trafficking, and repeat retail theft because people committing these crimes do not face any serious consequences. Prop 36 will create real accountability for breaking these laws. Prop 36 will reduce crime by enforcing tougher laws against retail crime and will make stores in every community safer for customers and employees. It will also punish those who traffic fentanyl, and encourage those with drug addiction to enter into and finish drug treatment programs.
